A microscope is an optical instrument composed of a lens or a combination of several lenses, and is a sign that mankind has entered the atomic age. It is mainly used to magnify tiny objects into instruments that can be seen by human eyes. The microscope presents a whole new world in the human field of vision. People have seen hundreds of "new" tiny animals and plants, as well as the internal structure of everything from the human body to plant fibers. Microscopes also help scientists discover new species and help doctors treat diseases.

Scanning electron microscope is a precious and delicate instrument. Therefore, we must maintain and maintain it when and after use, so that it can better serve our work and study.

1. Moisture-proof

If the room is humid, the optical lens is prone to mold and fog. Once the lens becomes moldy, it is difficult to remove it. The lens inside the microscope is inconvenient to wipe, and moisture is more harmful to it. When the mechanical parts are damp, they are easy to rust. In order to prevent moisture, when storing the microscope, in addition to choosing a dry room, the storage place should also be away from the wall, the ground, and the source of moisture. One to two bags of silica gel should be placed in the microscope box as a desiccant. And often bake the silicone. After its color turns pink, it should be baked in time, and then continue to be used after baking.

2. Dustproof

Dust falls on the surface of the optical element, which not only affects the passage of light, but also generates large stains after being magnified by the optical system, which affects the observation. Dust and sand particles falling into the mechanical parts will increase wear and tear, causing movement obstruction, and the harm is also great. Therefore, the microscope must always be kept clean.

3. Anti-corrosion

The microscope should not be placed with corrosive chemical reagents. Such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, strong alkali, etc.

4. Heat protection

The main purpose of heat protection is to prevent the lens from opening and falling off due to thermal expansion and contraction.

5. Keep away from sharp objects

Do not touch sharp objects, such as nails, needles, etc.

Cleaning the scanning electron microscope items are as follows:

Before cleaning the optical parts, use a larger ear-washing ball to blow off the dust as much as possible, and then wipe with lens cleaning paper or long-fiber absorbent cotton dipped in alcohol and ether mixture. (There are occasional hard particles in the dust. It is easy to scratch the surface directly by wiping the lens paper)

When there are indelible dirt, oil stains, or fingerprints on the lens, mold, fog, and reuse after long-term use, you need to wipe it before using it.

1. Cleaning of the lens

Use cotton swabs, gauze, soft brushes and other soft things to clean the dust. Be gentle and slow. Some stubborn stains, such as oil stains, fingerprints, etc., can be wiped off gently with a clean soft cotton cloth, cotton swab lens paper, etc. dipped in absolute alcohol. If it is to wipe off the immersion oil from the oil lens, use lens paper, soft cotton cloth or gauze, dipped in xylene and gently wipe off.

Note that do not use xylene to clean the incident lens at the bottom of the binocular tube or the prism surface in the eyepiece. Because pure alcohol and xylene are easy to burn, be careful not to ignite these liquids when turning the power switch on or off.

2. Cleaning of objective lens and eyepiece

Prepare 30% absolute ethanol + 70% ether. Separate the different lenses in a desiccant container. It is better to wipe with soft things such as cotton swabs, gauze, and soft brushes. Be careful not to wipe hard to prevent damage Coating layer. The oil lens needs to be cleaned at that time, especially the 100X oil lens. If it is not handled properly, the front piece is easy to soak in oil or open the glue. The eyepieces can be removed and cleaned by yourself, and the 16X eyepieces should not be installed upside down. The concave surface of the front piece is on the top. Do not remove the objective lens casually. When disassembling, mark the relative position of each component (can be marked on the shell), the relative order and the front and back of the lens to prevent mistakes during reassembly.

3. Sliding part: Apply neutral grease regularly

4. Plastic surface and painted part: stubborn stains can be cleaned with soft detergent, silicon cloth is recommended. But do not use organic solvents such as alcohol or ether to avoid paint stripping. If the unpainted part is rusty, wipe it off with a cloth dipped in gasoline. After cleaning, re-apply the protective grease.

5. Optical glass is used for the lens, prism, lens, etc. of the instrument. It is easy to be stained with oil, water-wet dirt, fingerprints, etc. during manufacturing and use, which affects imaging and light transmittance. To clean optical glass, choose different cleaning agents, use different cleaning tools, and choose different cleaning methods according to the characteristics and different structures of the dirt.

To clean the lens with anti-reflection coating, such as the lens of camera, slide projector, microscope, use about 20% alcohol and about 80% ether for cleaning. When cleaning, use a soft brush or cotton ball moistened with a small amount of detergent, and make a circular movement from the center of the lens outward. Do not soak this type of lens in a cleaning agent for cleaning, and do not wipe it forcefully when cleaning the lens, otherwise it will damage the antireflection coating and damage the lens.

6. The method of cleaning the prism and plane mirror can be carried out in accordance with the method of cleaning the lens.

The above-mentioned cleaning agent can also clean the grease mist, water wet mist and oil-water mixed mist on the optical glass, and the cleaning method is similar to that of cleaning the lens.

Mold on the surface of optical glass is a common phenomenon. When the optical glass is mildewed, the light will scatter on its surface, which will make the image blurry. In severe cases, the instrument will be scrapped. The reason for the mildew of optical glass is mostly due to the microbial spores attached to the surface. When the temperature and humidity are suitable, and the required "nutrients" are available, it will grow rapidly and form mildew spots. It is particularly important to prevent mildew and stains on optical glass. Once mildew occurs, it should be cleaned immediately. Be sure to pay attention to dryness.
